Advocacy

ADVOCACY

At Exceptional connections, we are professionals who can support and advocate on our clients’ behalf to ensure they get all the services and supports they are entitled to by law. We can help in different areas such as:

  • Regional Center IFSP & IPP Advocacy and Attendance – Help clients of all ages obtain services from their regional center to create an individualized plan that reflects the goals, services, and support they truly need. Under the self-determination program, we can identify unmet needs and changes in circumstances that, if found, can help increase a client’s budget.
  • IEP Advocacy – We understand that the IEP process can be overwhelming and intimidating. We are here to help you prepare for your next IEP meeting or to attend with you and advocate for your loved one.
  • Regional Center adult transition services Advocacy and IPP Attendance – We support families and self-advocates transitioning to adult services with the regional center. We can provide assistance and advocacy to include a robust transition plan into their IPP that can translate into additional appropriate services in this new stage of their adult life.
  • In-Home Support Services. IHSS is a complicated, complex service to apply and qualify for. Exceptional Connections supports clients to apply and get additional hours based on their needs. We give suggestions and advise our clients throughout the process.
  • Parent Coaching. Exceptional Connections provides parent coaching to equip parents to support and advocate for their children and their specific needs.

We can also provide information and support in other generic resources, such as private health insurance, Medi-Cal, and the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).
